a. ŝiyáṭ ˁanšéˀʸhen eḳániš ‘I will feed you with fire instead’ (CSOL I 8:41)
b. báˁad-aḷ bíroʰ múgšem aˁdégoʰ díˀseʰ múgšem wa-ḳáne díˀseʰ múgšem ˁaf yaˁáḳor ‘When she gave birth to the boy, she nursed him and raised him until he grew up’ (CSOL II 1:18)

perfect 3 sg. f. ḳáne
‘To feed somebody (object pronoun) with something (direct object)’ (a).
‘To rear, raise up’ (b, c).
‘To let grow’:
fɔ́ne ker ˁéyhon yéḳon ˁag nhɔfš ri ˁaf ľikέn záˁthɛr ‘In the old times, a man would let his hair grow till he becomes curly-haired’ (field notes)
Proto-MSA *ḳny ‘to feed, to rear’ likely goes back to PS *ḳny ‘to acquire, to possess’ in spite of the peculiar semantic development (LS 377, SED I No. 83v, Kogan 2015:561).
