The word is not used in the plural, the suppletive plural with the meaning ‘days’ is énhor.

As argued in Kogan 2015:579–580, the Soqotri word is to be derived from PS *yawm- ‘day’. The traditional equation with PS *šamŝ- (LS 418), very persistent in Semitological literature, is to be abandoned as due to superficial similarity only.
