etymology

With Jib. ˀōḫer ‘to take away’ < PS *ˀḫr. As for Jib. ˀōḫer ‘to delay, to canceľ (JL 5) and Mhr. awōḫer ‘to postpone’ (ML 9), they are likely Arabisms and cannot be directly compared to the Soqotri verbs. In Yemeni Arabic, cf., however, ˀḫr (II) ‘verhindern, abhalten, aufhalten’ (Behnstedt 14).
