1.
a. tóˁod še tóˀo ḷaˁmέr hek keʰ ẓ̂aḷ wa-keʰ atéḳaf wa-ˀaḷ-tšárḳaḥ kénhi wa-ˀaḷ-teŝnέz naṣf kaḷ keʰ máˁad hek áḷḷaʰ ŝénzeʰ ‘Go with me (follow my way of living) wherever I tell you, no matter if this be wrong or correct. Do not go away from me and do not go aside (do not go on your own) unless it is God who wishes this deviation’ (Bulakh 2024:135)
b. deš oˀoz ŝénoz mes áˀaṭab ‘One of the teats of this goat got slanted’ (Bulakh 2024:135)
2.
a. ḷóˀo ṭa ŝénozk díˀɛʰ ˁarέbeʰ ‘Why did you make the fence so slanted?’ (Bulakh 2024:134)
b. óˀoz ŝenέzoʰ áˀaṭab ‘A goat had a slanted teat’ (Bulakh 2024:135)
When used about an animal's teat, it remains unclear whether the verb is employed transitively (the noun áˀaṭab functioning as a direct object) or intransitively (áˀaṭab being an adverbial adjunct) if the subject encodes the animal (example 2b). Judging from a number of unambiguous constructions in which the possessor of a body part is encoded as the causer of a process or a state (see Bulakh 2021:279–280), the former analysis is to be preferred (Bulakh 2024:135)
- ŝoténez or ŝɛténɛz to go askew, to be slanted
