a. ŝéraṭk meŝríṭoʰ di-ḳayd ˁaf tešŝáraṭ ‘I pulled the loop of a rope (which was made in such a way as to be untied quickly) so that it got untied’ (Bulakh 2024:137)
b. ŝéraṭk ḷe-ŝɔb di-ḥumár wa-ḷaṭ ktofk toʸh di-gódeˁ ‘I pulled the loop at the leg of a donkey and then bound him to the stem of a palm-tree’ (field notes)
c. éḳdomk ˁag di-ˁö́mor meŝríṭoʰ e-moušíyoʰ di-ste tɔ́mer wa-tóˀo gedóḥoʰ toˀókeb ḷe-ḫáľfeʰ menáḷ ˁö́mor díˀʸheʰ meŝríṭoʰ ekέboʰ wa-ḷaṭ ŝéraṭ ˁes ˁaf yéľoy bes ‘I saw a man who made a trap (that is, arranged a loop of a rope) for a zibeth cat who was eating dates (from his storeroom). When she came, she entered through a small window exactly at the place where he had arranged the loop. She entered, and then he pulled at it (the loop) and seized her’ (field notes)
- ŝatéraṭ 1. to become tied up (a loose loop); 2. (impersonal) to be strangled; 3. to slacken, to get untied (a rope)
- šéŝreṭ or šŝᵉreṭ to tighten (a rope on one’s neck)
