etymology

Mehri šāreẓ̂ ‘to ask for help’ (ML, p. 29) comes very close formally and semantically to Soqotri šáˁreẓ̂. Also remarkable is Arabic ˁrḍ (II) ‘to give something in exchange for or in the place of another thing’, (III) ‘to sell a commodity for another commodity; to give a compensation’ (Lane, p. 2004).
