ṣáme šéʸhen ˁážeʰ ḥaʰ díˀʸheʰ be-gar ‘A woman died in his neighborhood’ (CSOL I 25:77)

In the fossilized expression ‘Let me die for you!’, a specific form of the jussive is employed, morphologically coinciding with the jussive of stem IV:

ḷóṣim ˁank bíyyoʰ ‘I would die for you, my baby’ (CSOL II 25:11)

‘To be dying for someone (ken), to want someone badly’:

ṣámik kenk ŝiyóbe tóˀo ṭáľikk tho ‘I was dying for you when you divorced me’ (CSOL II 1:165)

• éṣme 1. to outlive; 2. to let one’s kid goat die (about the mother goat)
• šeṣámi to be ready to die
• ṣémhi dead
• ḷóṣme God forbid!
