Directly comparable to Jib. éḳaˁ ‘to find; to guess rightly’. In Yemeni Arabic, note wqˁ (II) ‘to hit the target’, (III) ‘to set right, to push to the right place’. It is tempting to suppose an eventual relationship to Arb. wqˁ ‘to fall; to take place, to happen’, Mhr. wīḳaˁ ‘to be, to become; to come upon, to happen’ (probably an early Arabism).
