a. aḷ-ˁérobk ifúḷ ṭaʰ gέmgem kέrhen hímaˁk méken gemgέmeʰ wa-ˀaḷ šíˀik máˁne ‘I couldn’t figure out what you were whispering. What I heard was just your whispering and I couldn’t make out the meaning’ (CSOL III 14:41)

b. tóˀo ékobk di-ṣaff wa-ˀembóryeʰ šéʸhen emteḥán hímaˁk gemgέmeʰ wa-ˀaḷ-ŝínik be-ˁayn ékobk di-ḳáneʰ wa-ḳéṣaˁk be-ˁamḳ kor etomíˁin men óˀo gemgέmeʰ wa-ˀéḳef wa-bíŝi gemgέmeʰ ˁámok tkóteb wa-bɛss men gemgέmeʰ ‘I entered the class (as the monitor) when the children taking an exam, and I heard some whispering but couldn’t see (where exactly was it coming from). I went to the middle of the class and stood there to listen whence that whispering was coming from. But they all went silent, and there was no more whispering whatsoever. I said: “Go on writing and enough with the whispering!”’ (CSOL III 14:41)
