šémteḷ e-nhɔfš ˁö́mor ḷóˀo ho bɛʰ aḷ-ˀezáˁa nɔ́fin ṭeʸh siyáraʰ wa-efóred bes díˀʸho di-ḥaḷf ‘He said to himself: “Why not take one car for myself and flee in it back to my land?”’ (CSOL I 15:5)

1. ‘To speak with somebody (direct object)’:

wa-ˀáˀḥaʸh yóuḳaf wa-ˀaḷ-yešmέtoḷ íľʸheʰ megɔ́še ‘Yet his brother kept silent and said nothing to his sons’ (CSOL II 8:11)

2. ‘to talk about (ḷe-)’:

tóˀo himoˁótšen ˁemέroʰ náˁaʰ ˁam ber ˁeyyúg šémteḷ ḥe ekóḷe ˁan nɔ́fin ekóḷe ˁan nɔ́fin be-ḳáṣṣa ‘And when she heard them, she said: “Since the men have spoken this way about me, I’ll have to defend myself. And I will defend myself using a trick”’ (CSOL I 26:10)
