a. tóyki ho wa-ṭad ˁag wa-šíki mébrehe ḳéyhɛn wa-tóyki díˀki tɛʰ wa-ˀebẓ̂ákki toʸh ‘We were eating, a friend of mine and I, and there was a small child with us. We finished our meat and left nothing for him’ (CSOL I 9:8)

b. ŝkofk e-díˀʸho óˀoz di-téken be-ḳáˁar kor aˁámer mes ḥaľíb ḷe-ˁóŝi wa-ḳarére kések géḷaṭ sέrɛd ŝkɛf wa-ˀébẓ̂ak tan men ḥaľíb wa-ríˀin áḥmar ‘I blocked the mouth of the kid of my she-goat, which we’re keeping in our house to have milk for our morning tea. But the next day I discovered that the kid had removed the wood blocking its mouth and left us without milk for our tea; so we had to drink black tea’ (CSOL I 9:8)
