مالحظات الداللة اللغية

‘He/she (animate) covered somebody/something (ḷe-) with something (direct object)’: a.

The basic stem verb ˁími is used about a substance covering another substance. The animate causer is introduced either by the intensive stem ˁámi or the causative stem áˁme. The suggested distribution is not always strictly observed (cf. example b where the causative stem is used about water covering a wrecked ship).
