With Leslau (LS 381), to be compared to Arb. qṣl ‘to cut’. As argued in Kogan 2015:447, further related may be the Ethiopian designations of “leaf”, such as Gez. ḳʷaṣl, Tna. ḳʷäṣli, Amh. ḳeṭäl, Sod. ḳeṭäl, Har. ḳuṭṭi.
