naˁámer be-saḳɔ́ṭri deʰ di-ṣáme ľázem ḥóuraṭ yeˁúḳaḷ meʸh éˀed ŝíˀimhiľ ḷe-gέhɛ wa-róukob ˁes di-ˀíˀimhɛḷ wa-yeˁúṣom ḷe-mέḷḥe kor yebódem wa-ˁáyni kouḷóˀo ẓ̂afẓ̂áfi ľeḥé wa-koutέfoʰ meʸh menŝiˁóti diˀáḷ ṭahedédši wa-ʸheʰ šóubaḥ beʸh ‘When someone dies, he must be prepared for burial—as we say it in Soqotri, ḥóuraṭ. His left hand is placed on his chest, then the right hand is placed over it. His jaws are bound together to keep them closed. The eyelids are drawn down so that the eyes are closed. His toes are bound together and his body is laid out’ (CSOL I 17:13)
