ŝiḳároʰ šin ŝáḳar di-ˁeẓ̂ έˀɛfo ľheʰ méskon yeḥóḷet ḳö́ṣho men zérghin wa-yeḥóḷet men šérmhin ‘A severe drought has happened in our area, and the poor collect grass from narrow paths between mountains or collect tree branches’ (CSOL II 5:28-29)

deʰ ḷe-ŝáḳar di-kɔn šin ľheʰ be-ˁéyhon iľ-ḥaʰ ékeb έˀɛfo ḷe-ker basátin yeḳóreẓ̂ ŝáˁar yeˁómer di-göwáni wa-deʰ náfaˁ yeˁóumor heʸh ḥoḷt ‘During the drought which was in our land in these years, people started to come to the palm groves and to cut the grass to put it into sacks (to feed the livestock). This activity is called collecting the forage’ (field notes)
