morphological notes

dim. maˁarízhin (pl. maˁarézⁱhon) ‘inflammation’:

wa-men kúľľeʰ sánaʰ ḷaḷ yenáṭoḷ mes ŝɛ́hɛr náˁa yeṣábaḥ ménhi fɛ́ne ˁö́mor ṭaʰ méʸhen ketoutéyhon wa-méʸhen maˁarézⁱhon ‘Since then, every year in this very month my face has inflammations, small and large’ (CSOL I 18:38)

other notes

The employment of the diminutive form maˁarízhin with the meaning ‘inflammation’ is explained by the language consultants through the resemblance between the inflammation and a protruding apron (CSOL I 18:38).
