ímon gédaḥ tan mέsɛ wa-raḥ di-ˀaḷ-dekérenš aḷ-ḥan wa-ˀaḷ-díˀḥan mamáˁyhon wa-ˀéẓ̂ẓ̂eḷ fížir wa-ḥóye wa-ˀéte rího di-ˀaḷ-yeˀóutɛ wa-zéˁe tímhɛr wa-ḳénho wa-ḳáˁyhɛr wa-ˀíno men έˀɛfo di-ṣéme bey wa-šeˁámid tímhɛr wa-ḳénho ḷe-ker egḥáyo wa-kéḷe έˀɛfo iˀídi ḷe-ri wa-ľhɛg yebóše ‘This year, the rain and wind came so strong we can’t remember the like of it – neither we nor our grandfathers. And it ruined the soil and the land, and the water coursed where it had never been, sweeping away palm trees and animals and houses. And there were people who died because of this. Palm trees and (dead) animals were piled up along the wadis, and people clutched their heads in their hands, and some wept’ (CSOL III 19:55)
