ˁag di-báˁaḷ ˁážeʰ ṣáˁbeb wa-díˀʸheʰ bέbɛ wa-díˀʸheʰ bíyyo ṣaˁbébhon wa-ʸheʰ berö́we hey múgšem ḥáher wa-díˀʸheʰ miˁmíˁyhin báˁaḷ ˁážeʰ ḥóuro wa-naˁámer hey enṭéḷo ˁey díˀʸheʰ di-ḥabebhíyo ‘There was a man whonmarried a white woman, and his mother and his father were also white. Now, a boy was born to him who was black. And this was because his great-grandfather had married a black woman. About such a boy we say: “Something from his great-grandmother has reappeared in him”’ (CSOL I 18:38)
