a. édof wa-yedáḥdaḥ wa-yeḷódek díˀʸheʰ ˁániʰ di-ṭádaˁ di-máḥṣaṣ wa-tóˀo ŝínik ˁeʸh žerk deʸh wa-ľaḥáḳt ḷe-ˁániʰ aḷ-teftáˁat wa-ḷaṭ kóḷek ˁeʸh meḷkídoʰ di-ˁáreb ˁaf yíboš ‘And he began to shake the leather vessel and beat it against the gravel. When I saw this, I rushed towards him and caught the skin before it could crack. And I gave him a cuff on his neck so that he cried out’ (CSOL III 5:48)

A person gathers in his hand the lower orifice, upper orifice and the two hind legs and beats the skin until the ashes are thoroughly absorbed into the skin, which is then ready for tanning. Then one stretches it out a bit, then re-folds it and puts it in the shade. The next day, one plucks the hair from it’ (CSOL III 5:48)
