Then I buried in the sand my iron tool with which palm saplings are extracted. After this I wrapped a shawl around my face to protect it from the botflies, because the afternoon is the time when the botflies abound. And I climbed the e.-tree and I struck upon its branches to enable one of my goats, which had born a female kid under that e.-tree, to pick up some leaves (which fell down from the tree). As I descended, a swarm of bees attacked me and my goat and her kid, and it was only with a great effort that we escaped from them’ (Bulakh 2024:181)

Then somebody came from outside and locked him in. The man inside started to suffocate and almost died. When he (the man outside) suspected that he (the man inside) collapsed, he opened the door and said: “Oh, there is a man inside! I thought there was nobody here!” He (the man inside) asked him: “Why did you lock me in so that I nearly died?” He said: “It did not occur to me that you were inside. It was only later that I realized this and opened the door, saying to myself: Perhaps there is somebody inside, and he will suffocate with smoke and die”’ (Bulakh 2024:181)
