a. nö́ṣabk be-mórtameʰ be-sɛk di-ḳáˁar wa-ḷaṭ érkobk ḷe-mórtameʰ men ˁáľɛ ḥóʸhi kor aḷ-ľiŝnέyoʰ ‘I set a trap on the roof of the house and then put some earth above the trap so that it is not visible’ (CSOL II 2:1)
b. mérˁeb ʸheʰ yenúfaˁ men ö́bhon róukob óˀoben ṭᵃhar óˀoben wa-seʰ ḥóuḷɛ hes ḥóʸhi wa-ḷaṭ róukob ‘The central pillar is made of stones. One stone is put on another: some mud is applied beneath the second stone and then is put on top of the first stone’ (CSOL II 12:3)
c. naˁámer be-saḳɔ́ṭri deʰ di-ṣáme ľázem ḥóuraṭ yeˁúḳaḷ meʸh éˀed ŝíˀimhiľ ḷe-gέhɛʰ wa-róukob ˁes di-ˀíˀimhɛḷ ‘When someone dies, he must be prepared for burial—as we say it in Soqotri, ḥóuraṭ. His left hand is placed on his chest, then the right hand is placed over it’ (CSOL I 17:13)
d. neḥóḷeb ŝḥaf wa-ḷaṭ yóusod be-ŝiyáṭ ˁaf ľaˁfέŝ wa-laṭ yenóutog wa-ḷaṭ yerúkob deʸh ‘We milk the milk, then it is put on the fire until it boils. Then it is taken off the fire and freshly milked milk is added’ (CSOL II 2:1)
