a. šemέŝik be-miˀmímoʰ di-meŝíyyoʰ rího men ḳáneʰ di-ˁö́bhor wa-díˀʸho ḷe-šemeŝíˀoʰ bizέgoʰ meŝíyyoʰ wa-bɛtέzgoʰ ‘I was pulling water up from a well using a rope and a bucket. While I was pulling, the rope got torn, and the (leather) bucket tore as well’ (CSOL III 8:14)

b. ṭáhɛrk ḷe-ˁasérhin di-šɔm wa-záˁak ke-nɔ́fin máˁzek wa-gembíyeʰ kor aˁámer méžrod ˁámok méžrod ˁaf etéte wa-ḥómiľk díˀʸho ḷe-ˁáreb méžrod tóˀo éraḥk ˁamḳ di-ḥaḷf betézɛg ḳayd wa-ˀébreḥ méžrod be-ḥóʸhi ‘One day in the afternoon I went, and I took with me a piece of cloth bound upon the waist and a big knife, in order to cut some dry palm-ribs. I was cutting the palm-ribs till I completed my task. Then I placed the collected palm-ribs upon my shoulders. Midway along, the rope tore, and the palm-ribs fell down to the earth’ (Bulakh 2024:142)
