مالحظات الداللة اللغية

The verb is attested in the Vienna corpus, but the correct meaning was not recognized by Müller (‘beschnuppert’, Müller 1905:249), nor by Leslau (‘flairer’, LS 397): wa-ˀélhe teráḥa gad di-fólhi ‘and the cow licks the skin of the calf’ (about a dead calf’s stuffed skin through which the cow is cheated in order to coax it to give milk) (CSOL I 2:49)
