etymology
Perhaps identical to ṣ̌áˁarher ‘a sterile palm tree; a badly pollinated (and, therefore, inedible) date’, due to external similarity (this kind of date is hard and brownish). The latter is, with Leslau (LS 157), likely related to PWS *ˁḳr ‘to be barren, sterile’ via metathesis. Another possibility is to derive ṣ̌áˁarhɛr ‘clay part of the pipe’ from PWS *ḳˁr ‘to be deep, concave; to make a hollow’.
